SCHOOLCHILDREN had a day out on the tiles when they were taught to make ceramics.
Pupils from Balgowan Primary School in Balgowan Road, Beckenham, made the short trip down the street to The Alhambra Tiling Project for the workshop.
The Project, which was set up 10 years ago by Garnet Frost, teaches youngsters to make tiles and become skilled at other crafts.
Mr Frost said: “A lot of modern children are robbed of the experience of making anything out of clay.
“Traditional pottery skills are important in the development of hand-eye co-ordination among children, self esteem for young people and versatility among adults.
“We aim to use tile making as a gateway back to some of these neglected skills.”
