ONE of Bexley’s historical gems, Red House has reopened after its closed season.

The National Trust-owned house, in Red house Lane, Bexleyheath, is the fomer home of artist and socialist William Morris and was specially commissioned by him.

The house is open to visitors from Wednesday to Sunday from 11am until 5pm as well as bank holiday Mondays.

There are morning guided tours between 11am and 1pm or turn up and make your own unguided tour from 1.30pm onwards.

As well as the house, which contains many Arts and Crafts Movement treasures, Red House also has a large garden to enjoy.

The trust is looking for volunteers to help in the shop, tearoom and with other tasks.

Anyone with a few hours to spare can call Red House on 020 8303 6359 to find out what volunteering options are available.
