Award winners were chosen from a range of subjects including business and accounting, ICT, hair, beauty, sport and public services and were given their awards by Bromley Mayor, Councillor George Taylor.

More than 160 guests attended including councillors Julian Bennington and Robert Evans, college governors and representatives from local businesses and education partners.

Guests at the event, sponsored by a range of local businesses including News Shopper, heard principal Sam Parrett speak about her own learning journey, highlighting the importance of commitment and dedication in achieving a good education.

Student Rebecca Costin won the Preparation for Employment Award and also the special Principal’s Award, which is given for exceptional achievement.

Rebecca said: “I’m shocked to have been chosen. I’ve now got a job at the Bertha James Day Centre and I want to work toward becoming a full time carer.”

Talking about Rebecca's achievement, Principle Sam Parrett said: “Rebecca has shown real spirit and determination.

“She’s used every minute of her time here to gain even more experience and qualifications and she impressed her work placement so much she’s been offered a job.

“Rebecca is a fantastic example of how our vocational courses really prepare our students for the working world.”

Karen Simpson, winner of the Counselling Award, impressed tutors with her determination while studying on her foundation degree in counselling.

She consistently achieved high grades and is now completing her degree at the University of Greenwich.

Karen said: “I’m really excited to win this award. It has been a pleasure to study at Bromley College and I’ve enjoyed every minute of the course.”
