A POLICE officer is on trial accused of common assault after a teenager fell through a kitchen shop window in Bromley High Street.

PC Marcus Ballard is alleged to have used unreasonable force against Onyeka Obi, 16, on February 27 last year.

Officers had been called to the scene near Magnet Kitchens after reports of a disturbance on a bus involving a large group of youngsters.

The Met’s Territorial Support Group (TSG) was called in to support police.

During the incident Onyeka fell through the shop window but escaped serious injury.

He was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and taken to Bromley police station where he was interviewed and bailed.

It was later confirmed no further action would be taken against him.

Ballard, of the TSG, denies two charges of common assault.

The trial of the 29-year-old at City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court is expected to last until Friday.
