A RADIOGRAPHER is set to retire after spending six decades serving patients in Dartford and Gravesend.

John Brown, aged 82, of Spring Vale Close, Hextable, first started work in radiography in 1959 at West Hill Hospital, Dartford, aged 24.

Despite intending to retire early at the age of 60, Mr Brown instead went on to work at Fawkham Manor Hospital’s x-ray department in Manor Lane, Longfield.

Mr Brown said: “Fawkham Manor has been a great place for me to work. I’ve seen many changes but I’m pleased to say that many things stay the same, like the great attitude and friendly people who work and provide first class health care there.

“There’s a great atmosphere and a real sense of achievement.”
