PROTESTORS have gathered outside a hospital calling for a change in its management.
The group, led by Helen Ellis, a supporter of whistle-blowing doctor Ramon Niekrash, marched to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich, where they held a rally and speeches were made.
They held up banners, calling for a change in the South London Healthcare Trust’s management and demanding the re-opening of Queen Mary’s Hospital A&E department in Sidcup.
Other protestors included Donna Howe, whose father died at the hospital following delays in his treatment.
Miss Ellis said: ”This is just the beginning.
“The response has been overwhelming. I’ve had many emails from staff saying they support our campaign.”
A trust spokesman said: “Since the trust merged in 2009, there has been very encouraging improvements in patient safety at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, including a decrease in mortality rates to below the national average, and a virtual elimination of MRSA.
“We are committed to ensuring further improvements.”
