DETECTIVES are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist died following a collision with a car in Lewisham.
Police were called on Thursday (March 3) at around 8.45pm to Lewisham High Street close to the police station to reports of a car and a motorcycle in collision.
The male motorcyclist, believed to be in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene by an air ambulance doctor.
A post mortem examination will take place in due course.
Detective Sergeant Gordon Wallace, from the Road Death Investigation Unit, said: "Lewisham High Street is a busy area and I am conscious there would have still been a number of pedestrians, commuters and motorists in the area who may be able to assist us with information about the collision in which a young man has sadly died."
A 51-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in custody at a south London police station.
Anyone with information should call 020 8285 1574 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
