A MOTORCYCLIST died following a collision with a car last night (Mar 3).
Emergency services were called at around 8.45pm to Lewisham High Street.
Fire crews from Lewisham and Greenwich were called to free the motorcyclist, who had become trapped underneath the car.
But despite efforts to treat him at the scene by ambulance workers, the man, believed to be in his 20s, was pronounced dead at 9.23pm.
Next of kin have been informed.
A 51-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in custody at a south London police station.
The collision is being investigated by the Road Death Investigation Unit based in Catford.
Road closures were in place until around 4am.
