TAKING the bus in Greenwich is getting safer, according to new statistics.

Figures from Transport for London show the borough has seen one of the biggest falls in the capital’s bus crime in the past five years.

TfL says this shows it is one of the safest places to travel by bus in any European capital.

The borough has seen the second biggest fall in London of violence against the person - a 44 per cent decline over the five year period.

And overall, Greenwich has seen the fourth biggest crime fall London-wide, making it the tenth safest London borough for bus travel.

In Lewisham, bus crime has fallen by 39 per cent.
