It's not the first time I and thousands of others have wasted a lot of time because of an accident at this spot. The tailbacks from the Falconwood exit and situations where people carve up and cause dangerous situations are totally unnecesary. Many dangerous situations and accidents would be avoided if traffic was allowed to turn left from the Falconwood exit slip road. The locals say that left turns have been banned here because a well-connected person lives on this road. This may or may not be true, but the council and the highways agency could in any case have done a better job with traffic planning at this spot.

You are absolutely right to think about the children - there should be proper traffic calming in place around all school entrances. However, the entrance to Crown Woods School (or campus or academy or whatever they now call it) will be moved to Bexley Road this summer, so this should no longer be a problem – or an excuse! The speed humps should also be removed as extra safety is no longer needed for the school and as this is a 30mph main road connecting Welling, Shooters Hill etc. to the south.
