A FRIDGE-FREEZER is being blamed for a blaze which destroyed a kitchen in a Plumstead flat this morning (March 3).
Smoke filled the home in Burrage Road as fire tore through the kitchen at around 1.30am.
The 36-year-old man and 42-year-old woman who live in the property were asleep at the time but were woken by the smoke alarm and managed to get themselves out.
Firefighters took around 90 minutes to deal with the incident.
At this early stage in the investigation it is not yet known what the precise cause was but it is thought an electrical malfunction in the fridge-freezer could be to blame.
