TWO teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of murdering Gagandip Singh, who was found dead in the boot of a burning car.

A man and a woman, both aged 19, have been arrested overnight and they are being held in custody.

The body of 21-year-old Mr Singh was found in the boot of a blue Mercedes C-class in Blackheath at around 2am yesterday.

Police officers patrolling the area came across the burning car in Angerstein Lane and, after firefighters had put out the flames, Mr Singh’s body was discovered.

Mr Singh lived in Bexleyheath, and his family have been informed of his death.

A post mortem examination is due to start today at 10am at Greenwich Mortuary.

The car Mr Singh was found in had a number plate of V362 SCL, and was last seen at 5.30pm in south east London on Friday.

An incident room has opened at Lewisham police station under Detective Chief Inspector Damian Allain from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command.

DCI Allain said: "We are appealing for anyone who was in or around the Angerstein Lane area, and who may have seen this car either arrive or seen anyone acting suspiciously as the car was left ablaze, to contact us.

"We already know that the car was last seen around 5:30pm in south-east London, so we are also appealing to anyone who can help us identify how the car came to be in Angerstein Lane.

"At this early stage we don't believe that this was a random killing, and are exploring the line of enquiry that this was a targeted attack against our victim."

Any witnesses or anyone with any information should call the incident room on 020 8721 4805 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
