Orpington Scouts and Rotary club raise cash for charity
A SCOUT group and rotary club have raised more than £1,400 with a horse racing night.
More than 150 people packed into Crofton Halls in York Rise, Orpington, for the event organised by the 3rd Orpington Pathfinder Scouts and the Rotary Club of Orpington Crofton.
They put bets on eight pre-recorded horse races which were shown on a big screen, with the money raised going to charities supported by the rotary club, as well as the cost of repairing the Scout’s hut’s roof.
Rotary club secretary Terry Wilson-Hooper said: “We have been doing the race nights for many years to support the Scouts group, and they are always very popular.”
