A GREEN London Assembly member is aiming to become the capital’s next mayor.

Jenny Jones announced this week she wants to be the Green Party’s mayoral candidate with fellow assembly member and Lewisham councillor Darren Johnson as her running mate.

Ms Jones had a previous stint as deputy mayor from May 2003 to June 2004.

She said: “Whether it's cleaning up on air pollution, investing in public transport, increasing the supply of affordable homes, or keeping the police local, Greens deliver on their promises and work for the whole of London."

Cllr Johnson said: “Greens in the London Assembly have made a real impact over the past decade and I am confident that Jenny would make a real impact as our mayoral candidate.”
