A TOP Olympic gymnast left a group of youngsters beaming after she visited their club.
Hannah Whelan came to see gymnasts at Ladywell Gymnastics Club, based at Bellingham Leisure Centre, Randlesdown Road.
The 18-year-old competed in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and is currently ranked fourth in Great Britain.
Club head coach and manager Shirley Callaghan said: “Hopefully it will give our young gymnasts some inspiration to try and do as well as Hannah. I’m sure if she keeps on going she’ll be on our team for 2012.”
The club, a charity, has been running for 1967 and accepts people aged from two to adulthood.
