ST Christopher’s Hospice has raised more than £80,000 in its annual Christmas raffle.

Mayors from Bromley and Lambeth and the deputy mayor of Croydon joined the hospice team in Lawrie Park Road, Sydenham, to draw the winning tickets on Friday.

The 12 prizes included a Nissan Micra car, a £1,000 holiday voucher, a weekend break for two and a spa day. Community fundraiser Liz Sowden said: “The Christmas raffle is a really important fundraiser for St Christopher’s.

"We couldn’t raise this amount without the generous help of companies.”

She added: “Thanks also to all the people who bought tickets and the volunteers who help us run the raffle.”

The hospice needs £14 million each year to provide its free services.

One third of this comes from the NHS, while the rest needs to be fundraised.
