STAFF at a rail company which saw its services decimated by recent snowy weather have begun voting on strike action.
The RMT union is calling for industrial action over cuts to team leader roles on platforms at Victoria and Charing Cross stations.
RMT general secretary Bob Crow said the move would “cause chaos” and compromise safety.
He said: “Just over a week after their services collapsed into total chaos in the cold snap, Southeastern have been caught out yet again cutting staffing and operational costs to maximise profits.
“Southeastern have got the nerve to jack up fares by 13 per cent while hacking back on platform operations that will delay and disrupt the dispatch process while putting their staff in the firing line as and when things go wrong.”
Southeastern says the changes have already been successfully implemented at London Bridge and Cannon Street stations without affecting safety.
The ballot will close on January 4.
