A FATHER says the motorist who killed his 16-year-old son after falling asleep at the wheel is “spineless” after he appealed against his jail sentence.

Koaldeap Singh Lit has failed in his appeal against the three-and-a-half years jail sentence he was given in July after being found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving.

Josh Callaghan died on January 24 last year after 35-year-old Lit, from Strood, crashed into him as he was walking along the pavement of London Road in Northfleet with his father, Tim.

During the trial at Maidstone Crown Court, Lit claimed he had swerved to avoid a dog before hitting Josh, but when passing sentence the judge said he had fallen asleep at the wheel.

Mr Callaghan, who lives in the house he shared with Josh in Canon Road in Bromley, says he is “disgusted” Lit appealed against the length of his sentence.

The 36-year-old electrician said: “He is the lowest form of spineless pondlife I have ever come across in my life.

“What kind of decent human being kills a 16-year-old kid and then whinges because he got three-and-a-half years? It’s an insult to my son and our family.

“At no stage has he or any member of his family apologised. I would like him to know how it feels to lose a child, because if he did he might not have such a lack of remorse.”

Josh, who was a pupil at Ravens Wood School in Bromley, was in Northfleet on the day he was killed because he had been doing repairs at a house Mr Callaghan’s partner owns in Gordon Road.
