FILM star Johnny Depp sailed into a primary school yesterday to pay a surprise visit dressed in full pirate costume.
The Hollywood superstar, currently filming a new Pirates of the Caribbean film at the Old Royal Naval College, arrived at Meridian Primary School, Old Woolwich Road, giving just 10 minutes notice.
He came after nine-year-old Bea Delap wrote a letter to him saying the school was filled with young pirates who wanted to start a mutiny.
Dressed as Jack Sparrow and joined by members of his crew, Depp walked into the school assembly where he was greeted with applause and a pirate song.
Bea said: “He gave me a hug and he said maybe we shouldn’t mutiny today because there are police outside monitoring me.”
Acting headteacher Jo Graham said: “The event was great fun and the whole school are delighted to see that such creative writing for a real audience and purpose can lead to great things.”
