TWO boys who were caught drawing graffiti on a war memorial in Gravesend were forced to clean off their handiwork.

Kent police’s PC Amy Nix and PC Kevin Smith arrested the boys, aged 14 and 12, for causing criminal damage in Fort Gardens after they had written on a cannon with marker pen.

They were given reprimands and their parents and the officers agreed that the boys would return to the memorial the next day to clean away the graffiti.

PC Nix said: “Not only did the boys learn a lesson, but people nearby could see that they were being made to put right the damage they had caused.

“Hopefully they won’t do it again and others thinking about it will think twice.”
