A PLAQUE has been unveiled to remember an author and founder of a youth group.

Leslie Paul, who was born in 1905 and died in 1985, wrote Angry Young Man and helped set up the Woodcraft Folk.

Mayor of Lewisham Sir Steve Bullock unveiled the plaque at his childhood home in Bovill Road, Forest Hill.

Mr Paul’s nephew, Paul Wilkinson, aged 73, attended the event.

He said: “I learned a lot from my uncle. He believed strongly in environmental awareness and wanted to give youngsters a chance to learn about it.”

Mr Wilkinson, who now lives in Scotland, added: “It's great to see so many of the Woodcraft Folk here. Leslie has left a wonderful legacy, and I'm keen to get some of his books republished.”
