AN anonymous tip-off from the public has led to two early morning raids and three arrests.

Bexley police’s used search warrants under the Misuse of Drugs Act to enter the two houses in Jenningtree Road, Slade Green, following anonymous information given to the Crimestoppers hotline.

Officers from Bexley’s task force and North End Safer neighbourhoods team forced entry to one house and discovered what was believed to be cultivated cannabis, packaged and ready for sale.

They also recovered a cache of 49 weapons including samurai swords, axes, clubs, punch daggers and a crossbow.

A 34-year-old man found at the address was arrested.

The raid on the second house uncovered a fully functioning cannabis factory containing both fully grown and seedling plants,.

Also recovered were the paraphernalia needed for its cultivation including fertiliser, growing tents and lighting and heating equipment.

In addition, police removed 40 bags containing what is believed to be packaged cannabis.

Two people, a woman aged 22 and 28-year-old man were arrested.

All three were later released on police bail pending further investigation which will include forensic analysis of the seized substances.

The operation was led by Police Sergeant Graham Somerville who said: “This is a good example of how local people can help police disrupt the activities of criminals, by providing vital information leading to the discovery of a cannabis factory and the arrest of people suspected of being involved in the cultivation of drugs.”
