ANGRY punters have demanded their money back after a "dreadful" performance from Dame Julie Andrews at the O2.

The Mary Poppins star performed to a crowd of 14,000 on May 8 but caused a stir after only singing three of the songs herself.

Dame Julie, aged 74, was robbed of her ability to sing high-pitched notes 12 years ago after a botched operation to remove polyps from her vocal chords.

And so after admitting to audience members she would not be able to sing all her songs, The Sound of Music star was joined by a trio of Broadway performers who filled in for the now husky-voiced singer.

Music fans have been leaving furious messages on internet forums. Jockstrap wrote on Twitter: "So, £140 tickets to see Julie Andrews and the show was toilet. No refunds."

Another Twitter user, ScouseRachel, echoed the complaint saying: "The second half was dreadful."

Meanwhile 27-year-old Kerry Ann Eustice, who also watched the concert, told News Shopper she can understand why fans are angry.

She said: "I felt disappointed that Jules didn't do a few more tunes on her own, and I can understand why people feel they were short-changed."

A spokeswoman for the O2 arena said: "The promoters of the show are disappointed that some fans were not happy with An Evening With Julie Andrews.

"She received a standing ovation at the beginning of the evening and at the end.

"We will look at all complaints on a case by case basis and reply to all fans directly."
