STAFF verifying and counting the votes in Greenwich are having to don extra layers and scarves to combat the cold.
The count is being held at the London Soccerdome, which, according to one staff member, is so large and airy "it feels like you're outside".
BNP members are walking around in a huddle, still in their black coats, presumably in an effort to keep warm.
Prospective Tory councillors have questioned why the venue was chosen.
Braving the cold of the counting room, Clive Efford dismissed speculation he could lose his Eltham seat tonight.
He said: "It's all pointless now. We're going to know soon."
