AROUND 350 runners will be having a marafun time as they take the scenic route through a golf course to raise funds for charity.

The sixth Orpington Marafun, taking place tomorrow (May 8), will race through Vista golf course at Chelsfield Lakes Golf Centre on its way around Orpington.

Participants can do a range of events, from a 2km or less walk to the full 26.2 mile marathon.

Funds raised will go to Footsteps International, an Orpington-based charity set up by Marafun organiser Martin Print, which helps Kenyan orphans and street children.

Runners can also choose to support the charity of their own choice and places are still available for all six disciplines.

Fancy dress is welcomed and there will even be a prize for the best outfit.

Golf centre manager Yvonne Tait is looking forward to sounding the starting hooter at 10.30am outside the King's Centre in St Paul's Cray.

Mrs Tait said: “I am excited to be the official starter of the Marafun event next Saturday.

"It’s my first time, and it sounds far easier than actually running in the event itself. Maybe next year.”
