Fire crews extinguished two car fires in Woolwich last night - in the space of three hours.

Firefighters based at Woolwich fire station were first called to Thorntree Road at around 8.30pm and found a Nissan Micra on fire.

They spent around half an hour at the scene tackling the blaze.

Then at 11.30pm the same crew was called to nearby Maryon Road after a second car caught fire.

This time the London Fire Brigade were accompanied by police officers.

Firefighters who attended the fires suspect both were started deliberately.

The cause of both fires is now under investigation.
