YOUNGSTERS lucky enough to have their own school pool have been rewarded for their swimming skills.

The children, at Royal Park Primary School in Riverside Road, Albany Park, celebrated the end of term with the presentation of swimming skills and distance badges.

Working with the school’s specialist swimming teacher Jacquie Carr since last September, all the children at the school are now able to swim.

The Year 6 children, who did not receive badges, swim weekly at the new Sidcup leisure centre.

Mrs Carr said: “The children have worked extremely hard and a lot of them were scared of the water when they first attended the lessons.

“They are now confident, not only in the water, but are able to swim.

“They are extremely lucky to attend a school that has its own pool which is ideal for young and disabled children, as it is a hydro pool.”
