PEOPLE have just days left to get their names on the register of voters, if they want to vote in the general election.

Now the general election date has been fixed for May 6, the same day as the borough elections, the deadline to register with Bexley as a voter is April 20.

If you are not registered, you cannot vote.

People need to complete and return a registration form before that date to be eligible to vote.

If you cannot, or do not want to vote in person at your local polling station, you can register for a postal vote, or a proxy vote - which means appointing someone to vote for you at the polling station.

If you want to vote by post your application has to be received by April 20.

For voting by proxy, the application deadline is April 27.

To get a registration form call Bexley Council’s elections office on 020 8303 7777, email elections.office@bexley.gov.uk or visit the council's website at www.bexley.gov.uk
