A SUSPECTED gas explosion ripped through a flat in Plumstead yesterday afternoon (April 7).
Four fire engines and around twenty firefighters were called to an eleven storey block of flats in Robert Street at around 3.45pm.
A flat on the ground floor had sustained damage thought to be the result of a gas explosion, according to the London Fire Brigade.
Around 60 people were evacuated from the tower.
Firefighters from Woolwich, Plumstead and Erith fire stations were at the scene yesterday.
The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
