Coolings in Knockholt has been voted favourite garden centre in a national consumer survey by Which?.

The research from Which? Gardening found shoppers should avoid big-name stores when buying for the garden, with large independent garden centres coming out on top.

Coolings and other centres which fared well in the survey were praised for their range and quality of stock and helpful, knowledgeable staff.

Ceri Thomas, editor of Which? Gardening, said: “Supermarkets and DIY stores can provide value for money, but for the widest choice and staff who know about their products, head down to your local independent garden centre.”

Coolings managing director Gary Carvosso said his team are thrilled with the accolade, adding it is a testament to their passion for plants and giving knowledgeable, impartial advice to fellow gardeners.

Coolings is a family business which has been growing in Chislehurst originally and now Knockholt for three generations.

A team of growers in the village now produce nearly a million plants a year.
