A HOSPICE has secured government funding of almost £500,000 to improve its day care facilities and equipment.
EllenorLions Hospices, based in Coldharbour Road, Northfleet, is one of 123 hospices across the country to be awarded part of a £40m fund by the Department of Health.
Building work will start this month on improving facilities for complementary therapy, beauty treatments and bathing.
There will also be a separate dining area to give patients privacy and comfort as well as a Sacred Space to offer a place of peace and quiet for patients, families, volunteers and staff of all faiths.
This year the hospice celebrates 25 years of providing care for patients across north Kent.
Hospice chief executive Carol Stone said: “This project will transform our day therapy service for patients visiting our hospice.”
