An exhibition of Dartford's archaeological discoveries is running at Dartford Museum, Market Street, until June 17.

The exhibition Under Your Feet Archaeological Discoveries in Dartford Borough highlights investigations which have taken place in the area and the finds dig teams have made.

These include a surprise find during restoration work at the Channel Tunnel construction site which provided evidence of prehistoric people eating elephants, after the remains of a now extinct elephant were found surrounded by sharp tools.

Also on display are details of remains of Royal Manor House, where it is known Henry VIII stayed, and some attractive medieval floor tiles discovered during the restoration of the Holy Trinity Church.

Councillor Patsy Thurlow, portfolio holder for the museum, says the exhibition gives an insight into the borough's past.

She said: "This exhibition showcases the amazing discoveries which have been made in the borough over the years. Often these discoveries have been uncovered through building work."
