A FOOTBALL coach has been given six points on his licence after admitting careless driving.
Jamie Francis, aged 19, hit a van after ignoring a red light at the junction of Kent Road and Westgate Road, Dartford, at 2am on September 10 last year.
The van driver suffered whiplash and spent 24 hours in Darent Valley Hospital.
Appearing at Dartford Magistrates' Court on May 2, Francis pleaded guilty to careless driving without due care and attention.
The court was told the van driver believed Francis and his passenger had been at the nearby Zen Nightclub before the accident because of their age and the time of night the incident occurred.
Prosecutor Nick Markendale said: "The van driver did not have time to apply his brakes. After the collision the occupants ran off and left him on his own."
Police later traced Francis to his home in Tidford Road, Welling.
Francis said: "I didn't do it on purpose and have learnt from my mistake."
He was fined £150 and ordered to pay £43 costs.
