CHILDREN are asking an MP to support a campaign to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
The eight-year-olds from Halstow Primary School, Halstow Road, Greenwich, are working on a climate change project with Greenwich and Lewisham Friends of the Earth (FoE).
The pupils had their faces painted as polar bears when they met Councillor Mary Mills, who specialises in environmental issues, and FoE members next to the Cutty Sark, King Wiliam Walk, Greenwich.
They brought along a letter calling on Greenwich and Woolwich MP Nick Raynsford to support FoE's bill to reduce greenhouse gases in the UK.
FoE campaigner Ted Burke said: "The children's enthusiasm has been great."
Mr Raynsford said: "Over many years I have worked to tackle environmental problems in Greenwich, including emissions from vehicles and buildings which are not energy efficient."
