POLICE swooped on brothels in Dartford, Swanley, and Gravesend as part of an operation tackling the illegal sex trade.

Operation Pentameter aimed to tackle criminal gangs exploiting women and illegally-run brothels.

As part of the two-week operation more than 30 police officers searched 28 brothels across Kent, including four across Dartford, Swanley, and Gravesend in which four arrests were made.

There were 28 arrests made across the county for offences including human trafficking for sexual exploitation and illegal entry to the country.

The operation was completed in a partnership between Kent police, United Kingdom Immigration Services and the Department of Work and Pensions.
