A JUNIOR section is being set up by a bowls club.
Nearly a dozen youngsters are among the first to join West Heath Bowls Club, which is based at the recreation ground in Heath Road, Bexleyheath.
The club set up an event to test the water after several youngsters expressed an interest in learning to bowl.
Bowls is growing in popularity, especially among young people, and is pushing to become an Olympic event.
The response at the meeting was so positive fortnightly sessions for interested young players began on Saturday.
Sessions start at 10am with an hour's training, followed by an hour in a match situation to learn the game's protocols.
Young people wanting to learn the game can turn up at the bowling green in the recreation ground for the next session on May 20 at 10am.
