CIVIL engineering company FM Conway has applied for restrospective planning permission for its aggregate crushing plant, already in operation at its site on the Crayford borders.

The company's activities at its Rochester Way depot have enfuriated residents on the nearby Braeburn Park estate who complained of noise, dust and smells from the site.

Last year Kent County Council (KCC) granted restrospective planning permission to legalise some of the company's activities but refused to sanction its concrete crushing plant.

Further permissions for drainage treatment, aggregate washing and two storage units, also restrospective, were suspended after Bexley Council asked for the decision to be called in by the Deputy Prime Minister because the FM Conway site is on green belt land.

Now the company has made another retrospective application to KCC for the screening, crushing and processing of aggregate.

It also wants to construct and demolish waste and concrete as well as be allowed to store the material in the open on the site.
