ORGANISERS of the campaign against the London Olympic levy claim their support is growing across London.
John Flunder, spokesman for Bexley Pensioners' Forum said petition forms protesting at the levy are arriving almost daily from places as far afield as Walthamstow, Westminster and Wimbledon.
Campaigners say since the Olympics will benefit the entire country, it is unfair to expect Londoners to pay an average £20 extra on their council tax over the next 10 years to help finance the Games.
They are also angry London Mayor Ken Livingstone has committed Londoners to meeting any losses from the Games.
The forum is urging people across London to sign its petition against the levy and to lobby MPs and councillors.
A number of Bexley pensioners have already pledged to withold the levy from their last council tax installment.
