EARLY SUPPORT:
The National Autistic Society runs EarlyBird a three-month programme of group-training sessions for parents and home visits, to offer support to the carers of children under five, who have just been diagnosed with autism. For children diagnosed later there is an EarlyBird Plus scheme. Teams operate in Lewisham, Bromley, Bexley and Darenth. Call 01226 779218 to find your nearest EarlyBird team.
ONE-STOP SHOP:
Services to support children with an autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) and their families are changing in Lewisham. When the Lewisham Children and Young People's Centre is ready this summer, patients will be able to access sectors such as social care and health in one place. The new integrated services will develop strategies for individuals with autism. Visit lewishamcypc.nhs.uk
