RUGBY players kicked off a tournament by eating healthily.
A healthy food stall was run at Westcombe Park Rugby Football Club's rugby festival to teach children the importance of eating the right things before playing sports.
Staff involved with the project at the club, in Goddington Dene, Goddington Lane, Orpington, were concerned about the amount of fast food and sweets sold at such events, so offered fresh fruit as a healthy alternative.
Volunteer Michelle Harvey said: "We want to try and encourage children to eat the correct food before a game.
"Jonny Wilkinson does not have sweets and a bag of chips before going out for his country.
"Educating our kids to eat healthily before a game and at half time is essential, let alone common sense."
About 3,000 people went to the rugby festival on April 23.
