The redevelopment of Elmfield Road in Bromley has created a situation where the two streams of traffic can't properly pass each other, and drivers have to rush into any gap that presents itself.
Combine this with the fact that the pedestrian crossing is still being used but the lights are out of action, and you have a situation where shoppers are walking into confused, chaotic and fast-moving streams of vehicles.
The bus I was on today was trying to squeeze its way along Elmfield Road when it struck an elderly shopper on a motorised wheelchair.
If someone is killed on this crossing, it is likely to be the fault of whoever planned this redevelopment, not the driver.
