A SCHOOL has raised nearly £6,000 towards repairing its playing field.
Clare House Primary School, Oakwood Avenue, Beckenham, held a Promises Auction in aid of the pitch, which tends to get waterlogged in the winter and dry and cracked in the summer.
Promises auctioned on behalf of staff, parents and businesses included gardening services, baby-sitting, cinema trips and Spanish lessons.
The event was organised by the school's Parent Teacher Association.
Works to improve the field are due to begin by summer and are estimated to cost around £6,000, which will see the top surface removed and the grass re-seeded.
If this is not successful, the pitch could need a further £20,000 of drainage work.
Organiser Michelle Hugkulstone said: "It was another successful auction proving what a great committment we all have to the school."
