HOUSING association London and Quadrant (L&Q) Housing Trust is warning its tenants about a bogus worker attempting to trick people out of cash.
In an incident last month a man, claiming to be a contractor for L&Q, called at a house in Tyrrell Avenue, Welling, and charged the woman tenant £60 to fit a smoke detector in the property.
He fitted a switch which does nothing and did not give a receipt for the cash.
A spokesman for L&Q said "We are not carrying out any work of this nature in the area and we would urge residents to be on their guard."
