FASCINATING facts about the building and the history of the old Royal Naval College, Greenwich, will be revealed in an illustrated talk by Alan Payne.
It took artist Sir James Thornhill 19 years to complete the elaborate paintings on the ceiling and walls of the Great Hall.
And he was paid £3 a square yard for the ceiling and £1 a square yard for the walls.
Recent archaeological excavations on the site have revealed the remains of Henry VII's royal chapel which has increased the knowledge of Tudor times in Greenwich.
To find out more, head for Bexley Village library, Bourne Road, Bexley, on May 10 at 7.30pm.
The event has been organised by the library volunteers.
Tickets cost £2.50. Call the library on 020 8303 7777 ext 3361.
