PARK footballers have been forced out of their changing rooms after traces of Legionnaires' disease were found in the water supply.
A routine test of the water at the sports changing rooms in Charlton Park, Charlton, found traces of Legionella Pneumophila.
Greenwich Council says the changing rooms, which have been shut since February 18, will remain closed until after the results of further tests.
A council spokesman added: "It is very rare for this illness to be contracted by ingesting contaminated water but we immediately closed the facility."
Football clubs can still play matches at the park but cannot use the changing rooms.
Legionnaires' disease is a potentially fatal form of pneumonia, which is often found in air conditioning cooling towers and hot-and-cold water systems.
Last autumn there were several reported cases of the disease in south east London, including four in Lewisham.
