CHILDREN enjoyed dressing up as Snow White and Cinderella as part of World Book Day.
The event, which has been running since 1997 and is organised by the Booksellers' and Publishers' associations, saw 40,414 UK schools take part.
Storyteller Mary Dickinson visited The Good Shepherd Primary School, Moorside Road, Downham, as part of the celebrations.
All 219 pupils at the school received book vouchers and chocolate treats as prizes for dressing up as their favourite book character.
Headteacher Paul Moriarty said: "It was a fun day. Dressing up helps their imagination and comprehension.
"The day was also good for pupils' literacy skills, which we are trying to raise in the school."
