A JEWELLER is restoring war memorials to their former glory.
Andrew Marshall, owner of Lumar Jewels, High Street, Gravesend, is raising funds to repair war memorials.
The first memorial Mr Marshall repaired was unveiled at a ceremony in Milton Church, East Milton Road, Gravesend.
It cost £4,500 to make names on two sides of the stone legible again.
The names were re-cut by feeling for the original indentations and names were checked to ensure they were correct.
Mr Marshall began the project after hunting for information about his great uncle, who fought in the First World War.
He said: "If you can't read the names, what is the point?"
