A 23-YEAR-OLD who smashed three car windscreens after punching his girlfriend has been sentenced to three months in prison.
Samuel Wells, of Church Manorway, Abbey Wood, was involved in an argument in Dartford town centre on December 4, 2004.
Following the altercation he punched his girlfriend.
Wells then walked off and smashed the windscreens of three parked cars.
When police arrived Wells became disruptive and spat at the two officers.
The court heard how Wells was coming to terms with the death of his father when, two months later, his brother, brother's wife and their two children were killed in a car crash.
Miss Place, mitigating, said Wells was left to run the family business, which was £85,000 in debt, and was finding the responsibility difficult.
Wells is currently serving another three-month sentence for breaching a community order.
He pleaded guilty at Dartford Magistrates' Court on February 28 to common assault, two counts of assaulting a police officer and three counts of criminal damage.
Wells was sentenced 90 days in prison for the assault charges.
He also received a 30 day sentence for the criminal damage charges, to run concurrently.
