A YOUTH centre has opened after months of hard work by police community support officers (PCSOs).
The Gaff, Barn End Lane, Wilmington, was officially unveiled to VIP guests including Andrew Wells, High Sheriff of Kent.
The site was formerly an empty house owned by Kent County Council, used in the past as a day centre.
More than £10,000 was raised from councils and the police to transform the derelict building within nine months.
The project was the brainchild of PCSOs for the area Dave Booker and Tiffany Molden, who wanted to give youngsters somewhere to meet.
Wilmington ward councillor Ann Allen said: "The community had the opportunity to make an old, boarded-up building into a positive thing for the village."
