YOUNGSTERS threw caution to the wind as they gripped their frying pans tight in their hands, ready for an annual British tradition.
Watched by fellow pupils, the children from Barnes Cray Primary School, Iron Mill Lane, Crayford, were taking part in pancake races in the school hall to mark Shrove Tuesday.
Using shop-bought pancakes which were uncooked to make them firmer, competitiors ran the length of the hall, flipping their pancakes as they went, to the cheers of classmates.
